The day has finally arrived, Friday, August 21. The Clearwater Academy Knights vs. the Geneva Classical Academy Knights. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at 940 7th Street South, Safety Harbor.

We had a pep rally this morning to get the team pumped up for the big game. The cheerleaders cheered and the coach gave a good pep talk.

The team is ready. All of their practices under the blazing Florida sun are going to pay off tonight. GO KNIGHTS!

The students are back in action at Clearwater Academy eager to learn new things. The first day of school was filled with excitement and anticipation.

With a fresh coat of paint on nearly every surface of the school, those walking in commented that it was like walking into a brand new school.
Starting the week off, all of the high school students traveled to the Tampa Bay Museum of Art to see the Andy Warhol exhibition. They were treated not only to a large display of Mr. Warhol's internationally renowned work but to a variety of other contemporary artists.
Learning is an adventure and the staff at Clearwater Academy are thrilled to have the privilege to lead our students on this incredible journey.

Graduate 2009 Success Story

Success Story from one of our 2009 Graduates!

"I am from Korea and I came here after finishing middle school in order to prepare for an American university.

I have faced many academic challenges over the last few years. Unlike my Korean friends who were doing more advanced math, I was sent back to restudy Algebra II. At first I was worried that I would appear weak to colleges. Wow, was I wrong. In fact, I would like to tell you that I have been accepted to 11 highly ranked universities, including Vanderbilt and have been offered several scholarships.

In Korea, math was one of my weaker subjects, the one that always pulled my grades down and was a constant source of frustration. After completing Algebra II, my basics were in solidly. During the last summer break, I went back to Korea to receive math tutoring to prepare for my SAT's. I was intimidated at first because most of my friends were already taking calculus. However, the funny thing was, that they had totally forgotten their basic math and were constantly asking me for help!

Now, here’s the really good part: I not only ended up getting an 800, a perfect score, on my SAT math test, but I also got an 800 on the more advanced subject test, the test that “math jocks” take to impress colleges. There is no doubt in my mind that applying Study Technology in math and then doing extensive drilling were the reasons for my success."

M.K.

This week the kids are creating art with glass and soapstone, and staying cool by going to Adventure Island and the beach!

Week 3 came to a close as the last of the Houseboat adventurers arrived back. The Houseboat trip was a huge success. The kids had a blast. The escape to a beautiful Florida National Park lined with tress, wildlife and the cool spring water was a treat for everyone.

The rules were simple, have fun. Non-stop water play for everyone. The kids did flips from the top of the houseboat, kayaked down the river to Lake St. George and snorkeled in the crystal clear blue Silver Spring. They saw fish, turtles, turkey vultures and raccoons. All of this with a bunch of their best friends. Simply put, these trips are what Summer is all about!

The Passport to Adventure continues...
Second week in June and the students of Clearwater Academy are in action
from the moment they step into the school yard. From knitting class to screen writing class the afternoon electives have offered an incredible variety of new experiences for our adventurers.

This week the middle school and high school boys are on the houseboat trip and the girls are next to leave for their houseboat excursion tomorrow.

Horseback riding is on the calendar for Thursday and Friday for grades 2nd through 5th. They will get to ride the trails of Tampa Bay and get a good look at some of the most pristine natural habitat around. In addition, they will be treated to a wonderful petting zoo and have some fun with farm animals.
